Description
Elephants are gentle creatures despite their enormous size. The African bush elephant is actually the heaviest land mammal in the world. Out of all the land mammals, elephants have the largest brains and they have an incredible memory. They can remember where there are distant watering holes, other elephants, and even humans that they have met many years ago.
Elephants are the only mammal that can’t jump. But they can swim long distances. They are very senstive and have strong bonds to their family membrs and a need for comfort. Elephants that experience a tragedy like seeing a family member dying or being killed by a poacher display stress. And they need their elders like their grand parents who can pass on vital information for elephants survival.
It has been proven that elephants are sentient beings and they feel emotions including sadness, compassion and distress.
