Description
Like goats, sheep have rectangular pupils mean they have a 270-320 degree field of vision. This means they can see almost everything around them, except for what’s directly behind them without having to turn their heads. This is really useful to keep an eye out for any predators. Oh and sheep have a really great sense of smell. They even have scent glands in front of their eyes and on their feet!
Sheep make different sounds to communicate different emotions…..just like humans! Although they can’t talk of course. But they are considered to have a similiar IQ level to cattle and are nearly as clever as pigs.
Sheep are really quite intelligent. They learn surprisingly quickly and learn most effectively when they perceive things visually. They have been shown to be able to learn how to choose things by color. Read our article about sheep here: www.animalworldforkids.com/sheep-are-smart
